The Bontrager Rapid Drive Shimano HG freehub body is a genuine replacement part for compatible Bontrager wheels using Rapid Drive 54 or Rapid Drive 108 rear hubs with 142mm or 148mm rear spacing.

This is the shorter Shimano/SRAM HG 8/9/10-speed-length freehub body. The kit includes the pawls and springs required to configure a compatible Rapid Drive hub for 108-tooth engagement.

While commonly listed as a 10-speed freehub, it can also accept many 11-speed MTB and gravel HG cassettes, as well as select wide-range 11-speed road cassettes specifically designed to fit the shorter HG freehub standard.

Cassette Compatibility

Designed for standard compatible Shimano/SRAM HG cassettes using the traditional 8/9/10-speed HG freehub body.

11-Speed MTB / Gravel

This freehub can also be used with 11-speed MTB and gravel cassettes that are specifically designed to fit an 8/9/10-speed-length HG body.

Many wide-range 11-speed MTB cassettes use this shorter HG standard rather than requiring the longer road 11-speed freehub.

Select 11-Speed Road

Certain wide-range Shimano 11-speed road cassettes are also designed for the shorter HG body, including examples such as:

• Shimano CS-HG700-11 11-34T
• Shimano CS-HG800-11 11-34T
• Shimano CS-RS400 11-34T

Important: Not every 11-speed cassette will fit. Standard narrower-range 11-speed road cassettes generally require the longer Shimano HG 11-speed road freehub body. Compatibility should be confirmed by the specific cassette model rather than largest cog size alone.

Rapid Drive Engagement

Bontrager Rapid Drive hubs can use different pawl configurations:

• 3 pawls / springs: 54T engagement
• 6 pawls / springs: 108T engagement
