To use simply place
two pieces of buttered bread in the clam shell style compartment and
stuff with preserves, cheese & meat, pie filling etc... Close the
lid and toast over the fire until done. Perfect for campfire or
backyard firepits. Cooking surface is 4.25" x 4.5" with an overall

Rome Pie Irons and cast iron cookware are not pre-seasoned. We cast with natural cast iron and the only thing we add is a light coating of paraffin wax on the iron to protect it from rusting while on the store shelf or in transit to you. Full instructions for seasoning as well as tasty recipes to get started are included with our pie irons.
