The spawning shrimp is an extremely effective shrimp pattern used in saltwater.   Just about every species of fish eats shrimp so this is a great fly if you don’t know what to tie on or what species you might encounter.   The lead eyes will get this fly deep quickly so that bonefish will pick it up and start making your reel scream. This pattern has a weed guard which is invaluable when you need them.  If you don't need them, just trim them off with your nippers.
