Fine-tuning your trigger — what to expect
These springs allow you to choose your desired trigger-breaking weight when paired with a properly installed KIDD “Trigger Job” Kit. Because Ruger® polymer trigger housings vary slightly in tolerance, final break weights are approximate. If your trigger occasionally fails to reset, stepping up to the next-stronger spring may resolve it.
Installation & break-in tips
-
Pre-installation guidance:
- The spring sits directly behind the trigger blade with a plunger capping it.
- To access it, you must remove internal components including the hammer and the sear/disconnect/trigger blade sub-assembly.
- Use a slave pin to keep the sear/disconnector/trigger blade together during removal.
-
Disassembly overview:
- Remove trigger group; de-cock the hammer with safety off
- Remove hammer strut assembly
- Remove ejector, bolt hold-open elements, and hammer
- Hold back the trigger blade while removing the trigger pin to prevent the plunger spring from ejecting
-
Installation overview:
- Insert the trigger sub-assembly while holding the trigger blade plunger in place
- Replace slave pin with supplied dowel pin
- Reinstall hammer and spring assembly
- Reinstall bolt hold open, ejector, and magazine latch pin
- Cock hammer, re-engage safety, and verify proper movement
- Test safety engagement: trigger must not fire with safety on
If safety function is not correct after installation, contact KIDD for assistance.
